At the University of Pittsburgh Diabetes Institute, our approach to diabetes is multifaceted. We feel that diabetes is best fought on many fronts, with expert clinicians and researchers from a variety of fields. The Diabetes Institute unites experts in endocrinology, education, epidemiology, patient and physician education, clinical care, health economics, behavioral science, and rural medicine. The Diabetes Institute focuses on prevention, detection through screenings, education, and research. As one of the country’s few programs facilitating the translation of diabetes research into practice, the Institute is dedicated to delivering state-of-the-art treatments to all people with diabetes and to those at risk throughout the region.
